Self, Identity & Conflict (40 hours): Dr. James Skelly
(Self, Identity & Conflict)

This course will provide students with a fundamental understanding of the problematic character of identity as well as the constructed character of the Self. The course will therefore call into question core assumptions about the nature of identity and who we are as humans. It will allow students to explore their own notions of Self and how such notions are manipulated for political and economic ends. Special attention will be given to how identities are nationalized and utilized politically in conflicts.
